  • Client: Ministry of Public Works
  • Contract term:
    Mar.2014 - Mar.2059

Concession company: Sociedad Concesionaria Vespucio Oriente, S.A.

Description of the concession

In January 2014, OHL Concesiones, in a consortium with Sacyr Concesiones, was awarded the concession for the construction and operation of the Eastern Américo Vespucio toll road in Santiago de Chile.

This 9.3- km-long infrastructure will have three lanes in each direction in the greater part of the route. Its layout runs through five communes (La Reina, Las Condes, Vitacura, Recoleta and Huechuraba), while a tunnel under Cerro San Cristóbal and the Mapocho River, the upgrading of the pre-existing La Pirámide road on the surface and two underground roadways from the south of the Puente Centenario up to Príncipe de Gales stand out among the main structures to be undertaken.

Benefits for society

This infrastructure will contribute to reducing travel times of those traveling through the Eastern sector of Chile’s capital and will improve the level of service provided by a main thoroughfare which, at the present time, presents a high degree of saturation.

The regeneration of the urban environment as part of the construction project is designed to increase the green areas and areas for leisure activities, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the population of Chile’s capital city.
