Description of the concession

Terminal de Contenedores de Tenerife (TCTenerife) has been awarded the construction and operation of the new public container terminal on the East Dock of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which has been designed for handling import, export and transshipment traffic on the trade routes of the Mediterranean, north of Europe and the Far East with West Africa and South America.

The port has a 700 m berthing line, with a draft of 16-18 m, the possibility of operating at least two Super-Post Panamax ships simultaneously and the capacity for up to 620,000 TEU movements annually.

In 2017 increase by 10.7% the number of TEU movements.

The new container terminal provides the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the infrastructure and conditions necessary for developing its potential and to position itself as a benchmark port in the Atlantic. The fitting-out and the operating improvements to be undertaken will enable the development of international traffic and the expansion of the hinterland of the port.

TCTenerife is connected by sea to other ports in the Canary Islands by means of island traffic lines and services the domestic traffic of the Iberian Peninsula and the north of Europe and the international maritime routes between Europe, Africa and South America. In addition, it has direct overland access to the Los Rodeos and Reina Sofía domestic and international airports in 15 and 50 minutes, respectively.
